Hey guys, new to the forum. Anyways, got this new baby as a xmas gift, opened it up and updated the video driver to the nvidia 179.28 from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=110. Installed the WinDVD program that came with the laptop and then decided to play a blu-ray disc. Now here's the problem, the computer reads the blu-ray disc, and WinDVD can autoplay it, but it doesn't play. Opened My Computer, i can see all the files in the blu-ray disc, but nothing plays in WinDVD. Did I do something wrong? Help will be appreciated, thanks.

Does windvd have a special version for HD or for blueray? Some companies do now...

Also I could be wrong but I think for blueray now to play right in some players they have to be signed drivers, and those ones are in beta so they are not signed yet. I could be wrong though... Try another player and see, you can at least download one as a trial and test it.

Try and reinstall the WinDVD program (uninstall first, and then install again). Shutdown your laptop after the installation is complete (don't just restart).

If it is giving you an error , please post it.

Also, blu-rays can only be shown on one screen at a time. If you are trying to watch it on a monitor or a TV, you will have to set the computer to display on only the tv.

The program is actually meant for blu-ray purposes. WinDVD blu-ray for ASUS, that's what it say on the disc. I will try to reinstall it again and shut it down and see what happen. Thanks, still waiting on a call back from gentech pc.

figured out the problem guys, thanks. It was due to an update on the driver and a blu-ray software, the windvd cd that asus provided did not work.

Great news dpham. I am having the same problem. Could you share which driver update was causing the problem or which driver you updated to correct the problem. Thanks!

U can go to nvidia website to update the driver, but you will also need a licensed blu-ray software to be able to play the blu-ray. There is three way. 1. to call asus to get the actual windvd 8 bd software, 2. purchase one yourself, 3. download a cracked version of one. good luck.

Unfortunately, DOX drivers are not WHQL digitaly signed, interwinDVD bd for asus checks this drivers to see if this are signed, a work around for this is to buy a software like powerDVD 9, arcsoft TMT... etc.. i don't think we can discuss about cracking programs here so.. just go find a free one over the net.
