So, here's the story. My G1S met it's demise yet again last month, having cooked itself for a second time within a year. Luckily it was still wearing it's sticker of protection and Asus took it back for healing. Unfortunately they didn't have the parts available to fix it this time, so instead they sent me a G50VT-X1 as a replacement.

The new laptop arrived a few nights ago. It is truly a marvelous piece, but I realize that I have no use for a gaming laptop anymore and would much prefer something more mundane and/or portable. Therefore I have two choices now. I could either try and sell the thing, run the risk of getting scammed, paying unwanted tribute to Paypal, and use the meager earnings to buy something far less inspiring. Or, I could carry the thing around like a trophy, turning heads and radiating waves of geekiness as I embark on the never ending quest for conveniently located power outlets.

What do you think I should do with the laptop?

    lol.
You can probably eek about $800+ from a sale. Maybe try the NBR Marketplace? I've had success there in the past. If the other people have PayPal I don't think it takes out too much money.

If you really wanted you could turn it into a nerdier machine by getting a bunch of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5790 and modding the battery into like a 12+ cell battery. Nothing says portable like 15 cells sticking out the back of your laptop.

I say sell it for a quieter machine.

I considered that before they sent the X1, but I decided that it was better to get my hands on a new machine asap. I didn't want to complicate things and/or delay my replacement by bargaining.

Actually I intend to do that already. I'm just ranting because I need more posts before I can list things there. :p

$800 should get you most of the way to a pretty nice lightweight 13" notebook if you don't need any GPU power.

Just a reminder, you must have been a member at NBR for at least a month to sell items in the Marketplace forum as well as having at least 20 posts in order to sell an item in the NBR Marketplace. This means 20 quality posts, not short spam like "Good Job" or "Nice Deal".
