It could be refurbished or repackaged. But it also might just be on clearance, it really depends on what kind of retail channel you're talking about. There is no way I know of to know if it's factory refurbished by the label or any clues on the box. On the original orange G50s, the refurbished ones had an orange strip across the top of the lid where the normal was black, but I haven't seen anything similar for the ones with the different style lids. If you can't find out or it's not explicitly stated, I'd be cautious... especially if the price is abnormally low.

    It's bestbuy.com

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...=asus&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1218044029168

    That's the item.

This is their description on outlet items; kinda confusing if you ask me. Doesnt say wheter im biding in new or used items.

It's probably new if it's from Best Buy, they would say if it was a returned item or refurbished. They're probably clearing out old stock (thus "clearance"), in preparation for the G51 that is about to launch.

They are new, just a clearance item. Some stores still have them in stock even.

The Asus G50VT-X1 used to be sold by Bestbuy also, as an outlet item. I would know since I very much wanted to purchase the X1 over the X5 due to color schemes. I went directly to my local Bestbuy to investigate what an "outlet item" was.

It seems they no longer produced the G50VT-X1 model, so the only models Bestbuy have left are those that have not yet been sold yet from local stores. They won't provide new shipments of the G50VT to the Bestbuy.

I guess the G50VT-X5 is being discontinued so if you don't find one from a nearby store soon, the only models you'll be able to find are refurbished models. To think, I was just about to buy an X5 two weeks ago, but the technology ended up "expiring" :p

I wonder what they are replacing it with
