Like the title says I'm having a very BIG problem. I've a Konica Minolta 1200W PagePro laser printer which I can't instal on vista 64, so I decided installing windows Vista 32 (I tried with a friend and I could install it and tested works just fine! ) problem is installation works just fine until it reaches "completing installation , last stage , it stays there forever , I tried for like 1.5 hours and nothing happens. I tried for like 3 times , same.
My question is:
Can I do something to install my printer on windows vista 64 ? (havent found any drivers for it same problem with a canon LBP - 1120)
What to do to install windows vist 32 ? how to get pass that final stage?
Thanks a lot in advance

noone ?

This is most likely due to a driver issue. Konica doesn't even have Vista drivers for that particular model and it seems that the printer won't work with any OS after XP.
As for installing Vista 32bit, try and disable speedstep in your BIOS and see if that helps. -
that's what I'll try next I guess
btw will windows detect 3 gb ram instead of 4 ? so I heard
but a few days ago I saw a Qosmino X300 I think the red one very shinny etc with 4 gb installed and Vista 32 and when I browsed it it said 4 gb not 3 like I would have expected...
any other ideas or maybe a topic where this problem has been discussed would be helpful
and btw if I disable speedstep would have to run windows with it turned off after that ? -
hmm might sound funny but how do I disable speedstep on an asus g50vt? havent found anything in BIOS related to that ?
-
doesnt anyone know ?
-
come on , hasn't anyone else come across this problem ?

worth another try , bump

I replied your PM. The forums have been down for the past few days, hence the lack of user response.
Please post here if you have any further questions/concerns. -
Well... I know how to got into the BIOS , but I don't know where / how to get to disabling speedstep (is there a combination of keys or something that could unlock some other secret menu or otherwise not available? because I searched a bit and there wasn't anything like speedstep)
As for the printer tks for the ino but there is no Vista 64 driver just 32.... that' why I want to downgrade -
If you've searched all the options in your BIOS, but don't see a speedstep option, then it's not enabled in your BIOS. There won't be any hidden menus or anything.
Sometimes 32bit drivers would also work with a 64bit OS. I'd still give that a shot to see if it works. -
now that I read the thread again I realized what I missed out.
I 1st had this canon printer which was not compatible with vista 64 no matter what , I tried it on my friend's lap which has vista 32 on it and it worked just fine , as far as I remember , I didn't even have to give him the drivers for it , windows recognized it right away. I then tried installing vista 32 on mine , but it got stuck right at the end (tried 2 or 3 times every time the same result) problem which I heard is not "uncommon" read about at least 1 similar case. I don't think I missed anything out this time... sorry but it's 5:25 am here and I'm supposed to be studying Cellular Biology ^^
Bottom line , no x64 drivers so I somehow must instal vista 32 on laptop or xp 32? although the latter I think would bring trouble with other drivers. Any advice on how to make it to the end without jamming ? (waited like 40-60 mins witout any progress before restarting it , think it was enough) -

Ive had problems with HP printers that HP thought it not worth properly updating the drivers for vista. I dont have any hardware I actually still use that doesnt have a 64 bit driver.
I know not everyone has money to spend bottom line is if you can afford it buy a new printer on sale and stick with 64 bit. Better experience all around.
EDIT - Real pain in the but just to print but if its usb u can use XP in VirtualBox and just route that usb device to VirtualBox. The actual pain isnt all that its moving the file to print to XP each time u want to print. -
Well I might just try that , I got a laser printer and a cartrige that's almoast full which I don't want to "waste" besides buying a new printer is kind of out of the question given the current shortage of cash.
Still if anyone has a tip on how to SUCCED in installing Vista 32... I'd be forever grateful
