Hey guys, I posted this issue a while back and it is still happening even after sending my laptop in to asus for a RMA. I just got the laptop back yesterday and on the RMA memo they replaced the motherboard, so last night when i go to shutdown it is just stuck on the windows shutting downscreen so the problem still exists, I do not know what to do because the RMA replaced parts did not really help. Please help!! thanks in advance. This also happens when the computer is on for 7+ hours

Have you tried looking at the task manager to see if some program is getting stuck and holding up the shutdown? Only thing I can think or and have seen happen or other systems.

how do you check if any processes are getting stuck, cause when it is at the shutdown screen i can't do anything. And it also happens when the computer is on for 7+ hours.

Sorry I read too quick and didn't realize the exact situation.

I'm not sure if you can leave the task manager opened when you try to shut down, because windows will probably close it at shutdown anyways. At least you could check the processes tab in task manager before shutdown to see if anything is hogging CPU usage. If there is something hogging cycles and the computer then freezes on shutdown, it might give you a hint.

Sorry I don't have a better answer. Most of my problems are when you hit shutdown and nothing happens. There have been times I've hit shutdown 3-4 times and the computer just doesn't do anything. I thought this was your problem too but it seems you have another issue. Still might not hurt to check the processes before shutting down.

Had this issue on so many pc's i once wrote an application to forcibly kill all processes and shut down the system. Ive been thinking about writing a new one but these days seems less useful lol.

It could be clearing your pagefile on shutdown (it is enabled by default on Vista if I recall correctly).

There is a key in the registry called ClearPageFileAtShutdown at the location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

Make sure it is set to 0 and reboot.

a pagefile is swapping space (virtual ram) on the hdd in case windows runs out of physical ram. use regedit (start, run, regedit). if the key groceries mentioned doesn't exit, create it.

I had the same problem and I was running Avast Anti virus. It's a problem specific to Avast and Vista 64, but if you're not running Avast, it could be another program causing the problem.

im running avg i haven't installed many programs just msn cause it was on a fresh reformat, but i have a feeling it might be the windows updates or bad registers.

Uninstall your Bluetooth driver and see if that helps. If you use your BT device, then try installing a newer version. This should help with your shutting down issue.

I'm not sure what you mean by "can't move the wifi switch". There's no physical wifi switch on the G50. Are you referring to enabling/disabling your wifi through windows?

Not sure which G50 this is but my G50VT-x5 most certainly has a physical wifi switch it's on the front of the laptop to the most left side. As per your problem using the switch?...not a clue.

Not sure what model G50V you have but I most certainly have a physical switch on the front-left side of my G50V.
