I bought a refurb from Tiger Direct several months ago; it's worked great, until this. I was using it all day, turned it off, came back to it after a couple hours and it boots up fine but they keyboard and touchpad aren't responding at all. My USB mouse works, but when trying to log into Windows I can't type my password so I can't get on at all. Tried rebooting/shutting down, same thing every time.

Anyone have an idea of what's going on or how to fix it?

Edit: Typo in the title, it's the G50vt-x5

Well I got access by using the on screen keyboard. Everything else works, just not the keyboard/touchpad. Also the buttons above the keyboard (direct console, sleep, power mode) and the power button work. Any help?

Anyway to do that without buying Vista? The OS came installed with no disc.

I managed to get it working by rolling back the drivers for they keyboard (I was getting a Code 39 error), and by deleting the Synaptics Touchpad program in Add & Remove Programs. I believe the errors were caused by a recent installation of Nero, which from what I'm reading seems to be one of the main causes of these issues.
