I've been scouring the "which laptop should I buy" and have seen the Asus G50vt come up alot. I'm pretty set on it but I'm not sure how it will handle multimedia and multitasking. I'm a law student so I won't be using the computer for much more than taking notes, watching movies, surfing the web, etc. I usually have about 3-4 things going at once, including surfing the internet, watching a movie or listening to music, chatting, checking email, etc. I'm not really into games. I have a dell d630 right now that seems to heat up (pretty severely) with only one or two windows opened, especially when watching a movie. Can anyone tell me whether I should go ahead and pull the trigger on the Asus?
    Thanks

This would be way overkill for things like that. The G50's only last around 1.5hours on battery, heavy, and is marketed as a gaming laptop.

Yeah, you may want to look into something smaller and more power efficient. Almost any laptop of today will be able to do the tasks you mention. Even netbooks may do fine but that may be stretching it a bit. In any case, based on your needs your choices are virtually endless. :) Just decide on a screen size, price tag etc.

Maybe the FAQ is a good place to start. Fill it in and post in the What Should I Buy forum.
