I have an asus G50vt-B1, and i realized the wlan's reception is really weak, i have a 3 year old laptop which picks up 10 wireless networks, my asus only picks up 1 and cant even connect. I am wondering if everybody else is on the same boat as me or is just my G50 messed up.

Try and reinstall the wifi driver. Your G50Vt should be equipped with the Intel 5100 link wifi card and be able to detect the same (if not more) networks as your 3 year old laptop.

Do what I did, get a Intel 5300 AGN engineering sample off eBay for $20 and it uses the third antenna inside that the 5100 can't use.

    Majorly helped me out.

Plus the 5300 can do 300mbits where the 5100 caps at 150mbits.

I don't where you got that info, but my 5100 connects at 300mbps just fine.

My situation is the opposite, since i got my G50VT, my signal strenght is way better than my old Dell latitude laptop. Pretty sure it aint related to the card.

The Intel 5100 has a bandwidth of 300MB/s while the 5300 has 450MB/s.

In terms of range, I've compared them side by side and there's really not much difference.

Yeah my dad has his dell with g in it here and he gets 60 percent signal where I get 100 percent so the card should be good.
