    Hi, I bought a refurbished G50vt-x1 back in mid-May.

Just last night after I put it in hibernate mode, the laptop some how mysteriously booted up by itself. The screen was all black, then after I pressed the power button to turn the laptop off. I turned the laptop back on, now my screen is stuck at the asus boot up screen, with the "Republic of Gamers" logo.
It doesn't even go to the window loading screen.

    PLEASE HELP!!

The best first step to take would be to pull out the battery and AC adapter, then open up the memory compartment and reseat both sticks of RAM. If that doesn't get you booting, try booting off of each stick individually.

If it still won't boot past the splash screen, try to go into the BIOS and set your DVD drive as the first boot device and see if the system will boot from your recovery disc. If it won't, take out the AC and battery again, pull the HDD, and try booting from a DVD or CD one more time (sometimes a bad read head or I/O board on a hard drive can cause a system to hang at POST).

shouldn't the first thing he tries be resetting the laptop by turning it off, removing AC/Battery and holding the power for 30 seconds? as this could help a stalled bios.

Good point, Element. Our techs don't have much success with that particular method when they walk people through hung BIOS or non-POST issues (maybe 5-10% success), but it's a quick and dirty test so there's no reason not to try it first.

Many of ASUS's systems also have a system reset pinhole on the underside of the notebook, so you may want to look at the underside for this reset pinhole, as pressing a straightened paper-clip into the reset switch for about 15 seconds can also fix this type of issue.
