So I got this computer for my wife a while back from Best Buy since she likes Skype, Sims3, and her random iTunes stuff. I rescently acquired Windows 7 Home Premium, and have a few questions.

First off, I am not familiar with Asus as far as drivers and what not:

    1. I am curious if its safe to upgrade her comp to Windows 7?
    2. Where would I get Windows 7 Drivers for all her goodies?
    3. Any issues with this particular model and Windows 7?

    (I should mention its Windows 7 64-bit)

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Go to http://usa.asus.com and create an account and register your computer. You will then be able to download all the drivers for Windows 7. I Just did the same, I upgraded my G51Vx to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (from Vista Premium). Tonight I just did a clean fresh install of Windows 7. I prefer clean installs over upgrades, eliminates all the unneeded garbage.

Go to support.asus.com and go to the downloads section. Download your drivers. Everything is going smooth for me, and I have the same laptop as you with win7 Professional x64

Very nice! My wife is going to be stoked. I have Win 7 Pro coming for my AW but there seem to be a few issues with the M17x and Win 7 so I'll hold off on installing it on my rig until Service Pack 1, but i'll get my wife's done ASAP!

Thanks for the help guys/gals! :D

OK, so I reformatted with Windows 7. Two problems:

    1. Express Gate? I don't have a CD for it, and I dont know where to download it.
    2. The built in cam works, but when I use "LifeFrame" it shows me upside dwon, so I don't know how to fix it. Please advise!

Go to the ASUS support website at: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us and nagivate to "G50 Series > G50Vt(Best Buy)." If you are using Win7 32bit, select "Vista 32bit," if you are using Win7 x64, select "Vista 64bit." Drop down to Utilities and select "ASUS ExpressGate," enter the security code and download!

It sounds like you don't have the driver installed for the camera. I have tried both drivers from the ASUS website but both error out. The original drivers from the disc install just fine, and you can download them from:

    Hope that helps!!!
