hello, i recently bought an Asus g51 from best buy.

all my games ran exceedingly great

i have my CPU overclocked to 2300MHz and my GPU is clocked to 550/920/1425 respectively.

however whenever i am playing left for dead 2 it starts to lag up a bit.

im not sure whats going on, i even have the left for dead 2 settings as low as possible.

some people have suggested that the computer is downclocking itself, can anyone give me an explanation and how to fix it asap? thank you

Check your temperatures using HWmonitor, you have a very high overclock and you are probably reaching such a high temp that the GPU downclocks itself to prevent damage.

Still to high. I idle at 60c on average, and while gaming my top is usually 92c. Clean your laptop with a can of compressed air as you probably have a lot of dust there.

Drivers you can get them from laptopvideo2go.com

Anyways either you have a lot of dust or you have powermizer down.

Try NVIDIA GeForce v186.82 WHQL Drivers, should downclock on vista/7, should lower your idle temps, but you should monitor your in game temps to see if what others suggested is happening. Either way try the drivers maybe they give you better perfomance on the games you play.
