Amazon US offers the subj for $1411.99 which is cheaper than $1499 MSRP (most online stores offer it for either 1499 or 1449).
    http://www.amazon.com/G51J-A1-15-6-Inch-Gaming-Windows-Premium/dp/B002PAQXCW

Moreover, amazon works really good for me as I can use my debit card there (non-US bank) and there is no tax applied (I don't know if it's because I'm not US resident or because stuff from Amazon usually ships from Kansas to Texas).

Anyway, just wanted to share the information with you all, great forum!

Well the laptop doesn't get that hot enough to burn at all so you can use it in your lap.

The only hot area is the vent exhaust, as it gets all the hot lava air out of the machine, the rest is normal to a little warmish, very comfortable.

imo, buying it from amazon is a bad idea. I'd much rather pay a couple extra $ and get it from Gentech's ebay store with pre-applied ICDiamond thermal paste, and get better support than anything you'd get from amazon..

What this man said. You will get MUCH better support with the resellers like GentechPC.

The machine is very good, you don't need to hope for that :D You will enjoy it very much as I am!

I agree, I would like to have better thermopaste applied .But I've said I don't have USA credit card, so I can't use e-bay or some retailers (like newegg, exoticpc or so).
Moreover I don't know how they're with handling the tax. I really enjoy not paying my tax at all for the most purchases from amazon.

Anyway, my experience with amazon was really good so far (didn't need to deal with returns or support yet). But I like I don't have to wait weeks till I get my laptop built like I did with Dell (ended up canceling the order when they delayed it by week more).

Just wanted to spread the word about the laptop available from amazon!

(By the way, it was $1450 when it appeared first, then slightly increased to $1455 and then finally dropped to $1412)

Well, I have bought a lot of items from Amazon in the past. They always replace if defective for me. I have always just gotten a new one from them if something has gone wrong with an item. Which has been only 1 time in 100's of items bought.
Plus, i did not pre-order it so this was the only way I could get it fast without going over $1500. 2 day shipping & Saturday delivery works for me.
If there is a Auth Tech in my area (Wash DC) i will change the paste.
TBH I had no knowledge of GenTech.com. I sure would have liked a Blu-Ray drive though. and the 5300 NIC.
    Next time.

Yeah, just noticed the updated price! I would have canceled my order, but I don't have enough money left on my debit card to order new one. And I don't really want to wait several days for the previous bill amount to be unlocked.

Anyway, it's it's even greater deal guys!

Great laptop... however I think Arrandale will be the generation of i7 to purchase, when you consider the largest limitation these systems have is heat management. The i7 at 45W would be far more useful in a dual fan/heatsink setup (basically, a differently designed system than the Asus ones). Put together with the GPU, it will end up limited GPU OC's or be running much hotter.

I think it's pretty freakin efficient to keep up with quad cores and high clocked c2ds while staying under 2 ghz..

Has there been any word about price matching? They're about to lose a sale if they don't (not to mention no sales tax directly from amazon...)

I just picked up the Asus G60VX-RBBX05 from Best Buy yesterday and I love it but looking at this deal I'm thinking I want to return it. Is the better screen resolution, processor, and bigger hard drive worth the 300 dollars or so price difference? I'm thinking it is. There is a restock fee from BB that will add to the total cost difference.

Hard-drive? Maybe $50. The processor is much faster, you get faster RAM, and if you prefer the higher resolution. You'd be paying nearly $500 with the 15% BB Restocking fee, but it may be worth it.

yeah ouch on the bb restocking fee.. Don't forget also Bestbuy doesn't honor Asus's standard warranty AFAIK.

contact GenTechPC and they'll get you a lower price than amazon but time is limited!! Thanks Ken Lee!!!!

Well a friend of mine already talked me out of returning the G60. He made the argument that there is always going to be something better out there and as long as I'm happy with the G60, stay with it :) . Anyway it would have been a 160 dollar restock fee which is a pretty expensive 2 day use of a laptop.

G51-J would've been worth the purchase because the i7 alone is worth the cost difference. The better screen resolution and warranty is icing on the cake.

    I'll definitely be waiting for next revision i7. 25-35W 3.2ghz i7 please. :)

I better hold on with the return as well - IMO not worth it.
But if you didn't buy G60 yet - I'd have gone with G51J for 300 extra.

And as soon as I can't wait like 3 more month till dual core i7 processors are released - I've pulled the trigger with buying G51J.

Btw, you getting one more bonus with buying from amazon -
Because you purchased a laptop or desktop at Amazon.com, you qualify for a $20 credit towards select NBC TV shows at Amazon Video On Demand. Please click the link above to redeem your code and to see a complete list of eligible TV shows.
Minimum value, but extras are fine as soon as they are free, right?!

Meh. I can't wait for the next revision of anything anymore. I might wait a day or two to see if microsoft cashback jumps up but aside from that, I'm ready to pull the trigger.

aha, the price went back to 1476$ in Amazon again. It seems that they met a stock problem and the price went high. Is it possible I can make a good deal at Thanks Giving?

Well, actually it now "Ships from and sold by Beach Audio".
You can still buy it from amazon directly for $1454, but it now "Usually ships within 1 - 2 months."

So yes, they ran out of it. I guess grabbing it for $1412 was pretty good. Should be delivered tomorrow!!!
