did you keep in mind that you will get charged duties as well as taxes? I did a lot of research from this and found out that it was cheaper to buy from Canada.

Often, yes, but Newegg charges in Canadian dollars and there's no extra duties associated.

I just wish I could get a clear answer out of them on their shipping insurance policies. They wouldn't tell me what would exactly happen if my laptop were lost/destroyed in shipping. They don't offer extra shipping insurance on the website.

Ive ordered about 10 things from them. One of them being a notebook cooler. This is the only issue ive had with newegg. It took about 2 months for them to get it to me because of weather issues, it eventually got lost. So i called newegg told them to cancel it. They said once the cooler got back to them they would refund me. About a week later The cooler arrived at my door in a beat up, open cardboard box that looked like it had be run oveer buy a truck, I opened it up and the cooler was broken inside. The fan was broken and it made a strange buzzing sound. I phoned newegg up told them and then immediatly refunded me and let me keep the cooler on top of it. Bad experience but it worked out in the end. :D

Newegg now has a warehouse in Canada.

When they shipped from the US, everything (duty, taxes etc.) were included in the shipping cost. That's why it cost so much. Now it's similar to NCIX. There were no deal. You still paid GST & duty. (Remember, they had "shipping cost" then the other one was "taxes ,duty and fees"). You saved brokerage, that's all.

    I'll be ordering my N61Vn =D

there is a 1 dollar border fee

there is no duty on laptops. and as i said newegg has some sort of contract which makes you not have to pay brokerage you have to pay tax anywhere your order from.

I'm looking at the same laptop right now and it is $16 shipping but is the tax for shipping to BC 5% or 12%??? I'm confused right now because I'm only getting charged 5% on the shopping cart but will i get charged another 7% later?

As far as I know, newegg includes GST+PST. Unless you don't have PST, it should be included (and clearly stated in handling).

And as for the others guys in the thread, what the hell are you guys talking about? The brokerage fees for a canadian ordering from newegg.ca, a canadian ordering from newegg.com or an american ordering from newegg.ca??
This isn't clear at all lol..

They now ship from Ontario so it doesn't matter anymore. There probably were no brokerage fees because Newegg made you pay the taxes/duty before, so UPS doesn't need to charge you the "interests" for paying them on your behalf.

They are located and registered only in Ontario. All Canadians pay GST and you only pay PST if it's shipped in Ontario.

    Before September 2009

    Item cost + Shipping + $1 (Gov't negotiated brokerage) + PST + GST

After September 2009 (When the NewEgg Mississauga warehouse was built and NewEgg registered as business in Ontario)

Item cost + shipping + PST + GST = Within Ontario

Item cost + shipping + GST = Outside of Ontario

I usually order from NCIX, cause I only pay one tax instead of two, and usually its still much cheaper then getting it locally as NCIX pricematches.

Shipping is the only concern, but its not that bad waiting for it :)

This new 'HST' is a concern, as if HST exists, even if its out of province, they will charge the full HST.
