    Hey all
I need a gaming laptop that can play as many games like RCT3 and the sims 2 and 3 and some more intense games. My budget is 1500 USD and I am looking at the G51VX any opinions or reccomendations.

If those are around the most intense games you are going to play, the G51VX-RX05 from Best Buy is going to be more than what you're looking for, it will run them absolutely no problem at max settings, and give you the option of more graphically intensive games if you ever decide to pick them up, and it'll save you a good few hundred dollars to spend on some accessories or a protection plan, or a nice 1080 external monitor, or to spend on whatever else you want to.

You could also look at getting a G50VT-X5. That has more than enough power for those types of games, and it is ~300$ cheaper than the G51VX-RX05.

rawkst4r you know if the G51VX-A1 runs hot as well? Or no one knows yet because it's a new system?

It's new, but we can make educated guesses.

I'm running an X9100 processor, which has a TDP of 44. The Q9000 has a TDP of 45 watts. In my notebook, I've upgraded so I have a second 320GB @ 7200rpm hard drive. During games like Crysis--where I overclock the GPU and undervolt/overclock the CPU--I might hit 93 for the video card and around 72 for both cores of the CPU. Monitor and HDDs are sitting very cool.

So the heating issues are not bad at all.

Depends on the Gateway. If you have a specific model in mind, we could easily compare.

As far as I know, though, the P-series are 17-inchers, right? Those things are big and heavy. Granted, the "15-inch" G51 is almost as big as some other 17-inchers, but they are definitely lighter.

I do hear Gateway is making a computer that is equiped with a GTX 260m, but I think it's only in Japan at the moment.
