    The G51J isn't out yet.

But, when it does eventually come out, it will be a better, more powerful option than the current G51's.

The G51J is still unknown when it will launch. The i7 should be already a more powerful processor than the current Q9000, because clock for clock the i7 is a much better platform.

From what I understand, the "turbo" feature is the ability of the i7 to dynamically shut down 1 or up to 3 cores depending on how threaded the application is. When it shuts down 2 cores, it becomes a dual core and to compensate it overclocks to the turbo speed. So essencially the 1.6ghz quad core can act as a 2.8ghz dual core, and I think it can go a bit higher like 3ghz in single core configuration.

That already puts the low entry i7 faster than the current dual cores, and in competitive range with the current strongest quad cores.

I was doing some browsing trying to see if there was any other info out there about the G51J. On one forum I was a bit baffled by someone's comment saying he was glad he got his G51 because he didn't want an i7 in it...

Oh don't worry about it. Keep in mind the i7 is still a quad core solution and overall consumes a lot of power like current quad cores, so a dual core solution might be "better" for some.

Keep in mind that the i7 is already more powerful than most, if not all, dual cores, and there are rumors of G51J being cheaper than the A1, so it can't be that bad of a deal.

Oh I'm not worried. I thought the comment was quite ignorant. :p
