Hello! I have recently been interested in purchasing an Asus G51VX-RX05 and I have been looking for a good cooling pad to go with it. I have read many reviews and one common note mentioned was, "results may vary depending on your laptop." Now obviously that can lead to some concerns when looking for the right cooling pad. How will I know if it will work well for my future G51VX-RX05? Well, I decided to come here and ask the professionals.![]()
So, from person experience, what laptop cooling pads would you recommend for the Asus G51VX-RX05?

ZALMAN NC2000 ftw. Normally doesn't cover the GPU vent, but since the G51 series is smaller than the cooler you can just move it around so it does. At least I could

Same here for the Zalman NC2000. I just nudged my G51 as far to the right as possible, and bam, good cooling.
Other users have used the Nzxt Cryo LX (I think he has the LX), and they liked it. Do-You-Know-The-Munchkin-Man built one for himself. -
Yeah I saw that home made one. Looks pretty neat, although I'm not sure if I would want to go through that much trouble.
Both of those other models were a couple that I found, but the prices were a little intimidating. Would you say they are worth the price? I'm not necessarily looking for the best here, but just something that works fairly well. -

I would give a tentative yes. Don't expect, like, 10C drops or anything. Think more along the lines of 3-5.
With all my mods and the Zalman moving full blast, I haven't gone above 50C on my GPU, which has never happened when my room is at 85F. All hail mods. -
That's kind of my worry. Wouldn't some cheaper models be able to hit those same numbers, or at least close to those, or would they be more close to nothing?

They might.
One of the things with the Zalman is that it's made of aluminum, which will still act as a heatsink even with the fans off. It also has a very nice, strong build to it. It's not breaking anytime soon. Plus the G51 will fit no problem. And it's super, super quiet. My laptop fan is louder than the cooler fans.
Let me ask you this: What's your price range? -
My preferred price range would probably be about $20-$40, but I could go higher if it's worth it. I don't want to spend $60 on a cooling pad if it only has a minimal improvement over something worth $30.

Hmm. If you have a list, give me some examples of prospective coolers.
By the way, your name reminds me that I want to pay Left 4 Dead.
brb, off to shoot zombies. -
Hmm, let's see. I don't really have a narrowed down list as of yet, but here are a few coolers I've seen that look worth considering.
Zalman ZM NC-2000 Silver 15-20"Aluminum
CRYO LX Triple
Royal 15"-19" Wide Screen Aluminum Notebook Cooling Pad
Quad Cooler 15-17" Wide Screen
Antec Notebook Cooler
Thermaltake IXoft Thermal Pad
Xpad Slim
Jetart CoolStand 2 NC5000
Vantec Universal Lapcool TX ABS Notebook Stand (or related items) -

Hmm.
I say it's best to stay away from passive coolers, like the Thermaltake and Xpad. They're useful if you're on the go and you're not doing GPU intensive stuff.
The Jetart won't give cooling to the right places, and is plastic.
The Quadcooler looks like it can be effective--and if they're not lying, can withstand being run over by a truck--but I'm not familiar with the product. Possible option.
The Evercool Royal looks promising. Could be a viable option for you.
The Nzxt Cryo is very powerful, but it takes AC power to run at full speed. Also the most expensive.
The Zalman is strong, quiet, and gives good cooling. It's pretty big, though.
Looking at your budget, I am going to suggest researching and asking around about the Quadcooler and the Evercool Royal. Of those two, I'm leaning more towards the Evercool.
Of the Zalman, the Nzxt, the Quadcooler, and the Evercool, I'd pick the Zalman. -

My Xpad is my primary and only notebook cooler. It has feelings too.

But you have a laptop that can chill out its GPU in sub-40s (I think), and doesn't break 70s in intense games. For you it's perfect. For a G51 owner, probably not.

M570TU stock: ~4kg
M570TU modded: ~4.8kg
Xpad: 0.4kg
G51VX-RX05 stock: 3.31kg
NC2000: 1.46kg
Cryo LX: ~2.27kg
The Xpad is a modest supplement for my laptop, and it will be a modest supplement for the G51 as well. If one were to backpack their notebook and a cooler, the Xpad would still have the advantage in mass and volume. -

I'm sure the Xpad would be excellent for casual usage, like browsing or non-GPU-intensive work. The G51 runs fine without active cooling in that kind of usage.
I haven't yet tested games without my cooler on ( Left 4 Dead beckons, I think), but I would really, really prefer active cooling during games. -

Use your lungs and blow air under your laptop when you play if you want active cooling. It will also help you increase your lung capacity so that you will have lungs like Michael Phelps and be able to get twice as high off the blunt.

I'll huff and I'll puff.
Which plays right into the weed thing. GG.
