Hey everyone its been a while since I've been on here but i have another question. Just recently the speakers on my computer have stopped working. I have been using my ipod headphones on them a lot now, and for some reason it permanently thinks headphones are plugged in. I will be listening to a song, unplug my headphones and no sound comes out. It is not muted, and volume is up, so im not really sure what to do... can anyone help? Thanks to all. Kyle

This happened to me a month ago. I did some googling at that time and it appears to be a common problem with Asus laptops, but happens to a lot of devices. I found reports of people's phones, etc, doing it as well.

The consensus seemed to be you can send it back to Asus or take it to a shop to be repaired, but that the problem usually returns.

The only solution I found was this:

In short, you install Realtek drivers, go into the registry and edit it to force the drivers to play sound through the speakers and the headphone jack at the same time. It's good, except to switch off the speakers, you have to edit the registry and reboot.

You could also make registry keys to swap in and out by doubleclicking them, but I'm not sure it's good to be editing the registry that often.

It's rare that I turn the speakers on, but it's better than nothing? I wish Realtek would just give me a manual control to switch between them.

Wow, this problem is still around? My G1Sn is dual booting Win7 and WinXP right now, and I have the problem you mentioned in Win 7 but not in Win XP. Odd, huh?
