I was originally going to get the G71 from best buy. A friend has it and it easily plays many games on max setting or close to it. I want the G51VX-X1A but my only concern is that I won't be able to play on the Same settings due to the higher screen resolution. Will the larger resolution make me unable to max out games or get close to max like the G71?

You ougt o still be able to max them out.

I can still max Far Cry 2 out on my friend's 54" 1080p Samsung.

well my only concern is the heat of the g51. idk if the g71 has the same issue but i would go for the g71 more space = cooler. and the g71 supports 12gbs of ram where as the g51 only supports 8.

The heat is all normal from the 260m. G71 will cool better but not by much, about 2C cooler if anything and for the ram, are you really going to buy 12 gigs of ram lmao. The performance is definitely not worth the price, better off getting a nice cpu.

I play Crysis Warhead at 1920x1080 no AA, with shader/motion blur set to high, rest to mainstream and it runs at 28-35 fps

And mine gpu is undervolted at running at below stock so you should be fine. And I've heard there is no significant temp differences between the G51 and G71
