Before I make my decision on a laptop I would like to now a few things-What Blu-ray drives will work in the G51vx? How clear does the Rx05's 1366x768 screen look? Could I say its about as good as 1080p on a 21.5 inch, and can you see the pixels from around 13 inches away?

Also how long do you predict the Asus G51vx's will remain in production, particularly the G51vx-x3a at Newegg? I'm hoping for atleast untill Christmas because that would be my second choice once I get the money because i'm a little doubtful of the 1366x768 screen on the Rx05. I would prefer 1080p because it would be nice where even from as close as 10 inches I still cant see the pixels.

Why go G51vx? Go wth the g51J its cheaper and on the current Gen CPU and MB?
Look @ GenTechpc for a good price.

I'd like to know how the G51vx and G51j compare. Is there really much difference in performance?

Early benchmarks didn't show much of a difference but, at this point, it's a better idea to simply go with the newer i7. ;)

You gotta get your facts straight Fizban68, i'm talkng about the RX05 and the X3a which are $999 and $1279, retail. Your'e thinking about the G51vx-a1, which is too expensive at $1600, especially for me.

Any answers pertaining to blu-ray/1366x768 res, anyone?

I think that they might be continuing the G51-x3a because its got Win 7 in it and they need a 15.6er with 1080p in the $1300 range. But I'm pretty sure they are discontinuing the G51vx-Rx05 in favor of the new G60vx. Any thoughts?

I would say if your going to go with a bluray the full 1080p would yield a better image. For gaming on the 15.6" screen the lower res still looks great and will run nice. I rarely use 1920x1080px in gaming on my A1 but when I do its practically no pixels from normal viewing distance. At 1366x768 I would need some AA. You would see some pixels so at least 4xAA would be needed.

If bluray movies is your thing, I'd go with the 1080p.

What about Blu-ray players compatible with the G51vx and is my thoery on how long there going to keep the G51vx-X3A in production(until well after christmas, all the way though the G51j's lifetime) very plausible and likely?
