Hi! I bought the asus g51vx-a1 for about a month or so ago. it came with 64-bit vista but i installed the 64-bit Windows 7 and all the latest BIOS, graphics drivers (nvidia notebook release 195.39 beta) and the lot.
when gaming with my notebook, it "blinks" - freezes in mid-game and goes to windows (with older and low graph games such as hl2 it blinks just for a second and is back in game and the blinks aren´t very frequent but with newer games like L4D and Modern Warfare 2 it blinks quite often and it doesn´t go back to the game so quickly). there is no error message when in windows or after exiting the game. fallout and L4D2 crash a few secs after launching the game and don´t just "blink" (i don´t know why they are different from the other games).
i have tried changing the graphics drivers, i´ve had v186.81, the g51 graph driver from asus homepage and an older driver (the one before 186.81) and the last and current driver is 195.39beta, but it didn´t make any difference.
the only time i have had any error message was when i used HDMI with an older driver (don´t have that problem anymore) and when playing Age of Empires 3 on high settings (i tried to summon it again to write the error here but now it has decided to work fine) the error was something like ´hardware problem. display driver has stopped responding and was recovered successfully´ and some numbers etc.
the same error has occured when using photoshop cs4 but since i don´t use it very often i really can´t say what triggers it.
i have never had BSOD during games but i get it persistently when trying to use google earth. i open google earth and just when its zooming in the globe everything goes black and BSOD appears. it happens approximately 4 times out of 5 i´ve tried to use google earth. last time the BSOD appeared it said : Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed. ¤and below¤ nvlddnkm.sys (i didn´t quite know what to write down so tell me if i should have noticed something else).
does anyone have the same problem and does anyone know if it is a hardware problem or a software problem?
and i would be really thankful if someone would be able to tell me how to get rid of this annoying thing.

I'm really starting to wonder if these crashing and BSOD issues are more related with having Win7 installed on the newer g51's. I've been very weary getting the upgrade after seeing all these issues. Did everything run just fine on Vista and only started after installing Win7? I'm on Vista 64x and have never seen a BSOD or had it crash yet.

i had vista for quite a short while but the games i had then crashed the same way so i really don't think it is related to win 7.
the funny thing is that after changing my graph driver the nvidia control panel just dissapeared, it simply does not exist anymore.
i have also tried to run 3dmark06 but that crashes as well (i can't write the error message because i don't have 3dmark on anymore).
