Hi guys,
Very new here and spent hrs. reading about and trying to absorb the heaps of info you all have taken the time to share. WOW.
I have two Asus G53SW-NX1 coming from Newegg (ordered today 1 for me and 1 for a close friend) and heard about all the bloat ware etc. on them.
I also heard that these models don't come with an OS disk but do come with a driver disk.
Would it be possible for me to use the Windows 7 64bit OS disk from my last desktop build to perform a clean install on the new G53s and then use the windows serial number found on the laptop?
Also, would using the provided driver disk install all the factory drivers including Hot Keys, RGB Keyboard lighting, Hybrid power function etc?
I can use any and all advice since I hope to perform these changes the day they arrive (before transfering all my files and apps).
Thanks so very much and looking to becoming active on this great forum.

1. if it is a standard windows install disk then yes. I have tried a windows recovery disc specially tailored for my old G60Vx and it failed to install. If you install the correct 64bit home premium edition, the key on the back should work fine.
2. Yes yes and yes. -

Hi Shora welcome to NBR!
You can the disc you have as long as it Windows 7 Home preimum the use the keycode that comes on the bottom of your Asus. Check out the bloatware before you reformat though, Asus computers usually dont come wiht alot, but i cant say for sure what newegg versions will come with. They will come with a drivers/utilities disc that you can use to reinstall all needed drivers then pick and choose which utilities you want to put back on.
Check out the Sticky post "Asus Utility and Bloatware Guide" on the main Asus page. -
More reading to go.
