    Hello to all,

I''m encountering some strange issues with my new G60VX notebook. I'm using Windows 7 64bit along with the latest DOX Nvidia driver.
First of all my idle GPU temperatures goes around 60-70 degrees.
I tried finding the powermizer setting in the nvidia driver advanced settings but they seem missing. I tried reinstalling the latest official driver also, still missing. How you guys set the GPU powermizer settings?
Also, shouldnt the GPU downclock itself when using power saver profile?

I need to get powermizer to work when setting low power usage profile or going battery mode. How can i do that, because i think there are no such settings in driver control panel.

    method that needs no software.

1.Open "regedit" (search from start menu)
    2.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000
    3.Change "PerfLevelSrc" 's data value to "3333". (From "2222")
    4. done, frequency would decrease when idle (restart required)

pretty sure a quick button press in powermizer>manually messing with your registry.

It's not whether or not powermizer works, it's how quickly it's invoked. In all the 19x.xx drivers, it seems like if I scroll down on a webpage BAM it's in gaming clocks. It's way too touchy and doesn't even have time to throttle down all the way to idle clocks again before it goes back to gaming clocks while doing the smallest tasks. And that drains the battery.

Don't yell at me for getting a gaming machine to do things on battery. This is a fully capable machine for my needs and I think just under 2 hrs on a 6 cell + 3 hrs on a 9 cell is ample mobility.

for some reason, it happened on my first and second win7 installations, but when I did a clean install of win7 before boxing it up and installed 186.82 directly, enabled powermizer with the switch and bam...worked like a charm. downclocked instantly outside of a game, never clocked up during the entire rest of my "install" process, getting it optimized/drivers installed etc for my buyer.

No, powermizer wont work in windows 7 because microsoft simply didnt include it in there registry but every nvidia gpu has powermizer, this is how you do it....

Some people seem to be abit confussed..
1 any driver can be downloaded, it doesnt matter, you can input them manually and get powermizer to work
2 Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit OS, the powermizer will not work until you input them manually because they are simply not in the registry

Heres a quick guide how to solve all your problems
1 Press the windows key and R key on the keyboard
2 This will bring up the run window
3 Type regedit and click ok
4 This will open the registry editor
    5 Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
6 Then click the following, SYSTEM,currentcontrolset, control,Video
7 You will see lots of numbers, open each one up and click the 0000, your looking for the one thats shows a massive list on the right, this is where we need to input the data
8 When you have found the right one, right click and new tab will come up, click new
9 Input PerfLevelSrc as the name now repeat the above for the following..
    PowerMizerEnable
    PowerMizerLevel
    PowerMizerLevelAC
10 In the list you should now have this...
    PerfLevelSrc
    PowerMizerEnable
    PowerMizerLevel
    PowerMizerLevelAC
11 Right click PerfLevelScr and press modify,(ALL IN DWORD) then input 3333 as the value
12 For PowerMizerEnable, PowerMizerLevel, PowerMizerLevelAC the value should be 0, you can check this by right clicking on them and pressing modify, they should already be at 0, if not change them to 0
13 Now close it down (top corner x) and reboot
14 Now download powermizer switch from this forum and it will work with windows 7 and any nvidia driver, if powermizer switch doesnt work (it should do though)you can turn it off manually from the above, instead of putting 3333 as the value, input 3322 for ac off and battery on or 2222 to turn it off on both ac power and battery (3333 is powermizer on), the good thing about powermizer swich is you dont have to do it manually so you can have it on when on the net and off for gaming, works great for throttling issues or low fps/lag
    Enjoy
