I dont believe it, asus wouldn't put an 1680 x 1050 screen in the G50 and lower the res on the new G51/60 this much. I cant see how anyone is believing this lets wait till launch im sure i will be right, GO ASUS!

These are looking beaut, i must say.

Keeping the 1680x1050 res with that GPU would be a wise choice for ASUS :D

Doesn't make very much sense for Asus to limit it to WXGA. Well, on the bright side, it's definitely future proof for a long time. :D

I hope that Asus just isn't planning any other screen variants in that county where that was shown. And I really hope they are going to give the US the option of 1080 (the 1080 screen from the 16" VX5 that is also coming out soon). :D Only a month of waiting until we find out...ug!

So is the G60 a different design than the G51?( meaning will it have a different color scheme)
Both models seem to have the same exact hardware with the G60 being slightly larger

Oh no I'm going to cry. Gotei 13 found this link on the VX5 and it's screen res is NOT 1080 like some sites have reported it will be. The chances that the G60/G51 will have a good res is now looking slimmer. :(

to my knowledge, the g51 and the g60 should look the same. On the G51 thread, the pictures taken are of the g60 so there you go.

To RifterAD, its still too early to tell yet, all the VX series have always have a high price premium with only moderate components. Just because the vx5 is 1366x768, its doesn't mean that the g51 or the g60 will only have 1366x768 res too.

Yes, those pictures were of the G60

I think the price should be really close though.

That's what I thought all pictures shown were the G60.
I did ask a reseller about the color of the G51 and they did say it's White he thinks!
So there might be a very, very small chance for the G51 to come in another color other than White.
Not that the White G51/G60 looks bad it's just that if it came in another color (black) it would be great.
They did say they will have a full review of benchmarks and game demos as soon as they can.
    The backlit keyboard looks amazing.

If the price remains around the same amount as the G50 that would be amazing with the 260 GTX + factory OC feature = win in my book.
Should be available in a few weeks :D *crosses fingers*

lawl, I was just being snarky, I hope you didn't think I was begging fer repz

BTW, it is a pain to search for 'ASUS G60' -- so many Garmin Nuviphone results :p and searching for the G51 is no better, all logitech results. /ot rant

I do wonder if the 16" G60 will come with a higher res. Hopefully by the time Computex is over it'll be known.

Well, if it has a 260m and backlit chiclet keyboard (which at least one picture shows) than I might be upgrading again soon (or buying the parts).

I am almost positive. It looks the same and specs are so close.

I might even get that cool rubberized palmrest. :)

But if the G60 has an LED screen, that would just about justify an upgrade.

The keyboard illumination must mean that a new direct console is coming (to control the lighting). I hope it has a game mode with just the WASD and Fn keys lit.

uh oh here comes the misconception.

I was thinking more in the lines of TV's where say the new LED lamps tv's function and provide a better image/contrast while providing extra battery life. So in that same sense the LED's are replacing the usual lamp in the current LCD tv offerings meaning that a longer battery life and life expectancy of the screen.

    So i'm wrong?

the last i remember, Liquid crystal display =/= Light emitting diode. I thought the LED's were replacing the lamps within the old LCD's. They work together to produce an image right?

Well LEDs are a backbiting technology no? LCDs aren't the lighting but the technology of the actual screen itself. There are a few types of LCDs like TFT and blah blah. My screen knowledge isn't that good so maybe I'm mistaken, but I could've sworn LEDs weren't by themselves a screen type.

They are the same the only difference is the way they are lit up.
LED displays simply replace the old cathode fluorescent light with white LED lights.
That saves power and produces a better gamut of colors due to the better quality of white light produced by the LED's.
Also contain no mercury to be environmentally friendly :D
One more post and it's 1000! HA!

So far LEDs only act as the backlighting technology. But I believe they are working on developing LED displays with RGB-emitting LEDs.

My guess is that OLED screens will make it's way into mainstream notebooks in at least 10 years. Right now the technology is still too expensive, and with today's economy, I don't think many manufactures are ready to invest in this costly technology.

Really hoping that a g60 will be released in north america with g51vx-a1 specs and maybe a bluray. From pic's I've seen it looks like there are no side lights either. I really like its clean look.

If anyone hears about any news if this might happen I'd really appreciate if you can post it here. Thanks :)

What's funny is that the g51 isn't available anywhere in Europe, and the same goes for the G60 in America..

Asus probably doesn't see the need for two very similar notebooks in the same market.

15.6" and 16" is such a small difference in screen size yet creates two different lines of laptops. Maybe ASUS wants to distinguish a G series laptop per region.

Howitzer, as a user of 16" i LOVE IT. I would actually take it to replace a 17" notebook. It sounds odd but you have to see/feel/use it :)

Got my g60 at BB and absolutely love it! The design has improved compared to g51 and so is the screen. However, when I play games it really lags, i run it on extreme turbo. My temperatures are fine too. Could it be a server problem? Anyone have that? Thanks.

Playing MW2 on it and everything runs very smooth.
I did install a T9900 in mine so that really helps. ;)
