I found a great cooling fan solution for this laptop. It has three speeds. I like the fastest settings, as the temps drop about 20 degrees f. Thats right its a box fan from walmart with swivel center.....

Temps are even better in the basement then in my dining room.... Works best with a block of wood under the fan to let air in...

    i like it.

only problem is taking it somewhere with you, but that wouldnt be too much of an issue cause i wouldnt need a cooler unless i was plunked down at my desk gaming. also, how loud is it?

Must be a pain to type on.
    I could see using that(maybe) when the G60 is plugged into a nice 40"-50" HDTV with a HDMI cable.(It's awesome :D )
Just spring for a ZALMAN NC 2000 and it solves all your worries bro + it's much easier to move.

Is the zalman better than the cryo lx for this asus? I know the cryo is better for alienware because of the position of its fans, but I don't know which one is better in this case?

My current logitech laptopcooler with 1 fan makes my cpu rice from 45 to 55 celcius (idle mode)...yet when I use it my gpu doesn't overheat during gaming (used to have black screens). Eventhough its temperatures remains the same in idle mode.

Instead of finding solutions to solve to symptoms why don't you guys just get the root of the problem: too much hot chips in a 15 inch screen chassis. Pay the extra $150 for the G72, which has a bigger surface area to dissipate heat + the heat comes out of the back of the laptop so only the back would get hot and problem solved.

heh, my G51 stays cooler than any G72 I've seen =p. and btw, I used that exact same fan when I first got my g51, before purchasing my zalman NC1500, and now I'm making a custom build.

to be honest it is really comfortable to type on. I am 5'11" tall and find it just about the right hight. I even added a little but of wood under the fan so that the fan can suck some air from under it.

This is a great idea and seems to work for you, but when I first saw the initial post, I thought, noooo...this is a joke. :p

If this is the kind of air flow an Asus laptop needs, the actual laptop coolers with 1-2 fans don't stand a chance.
