Is it not capable of RAID at all or just not configured out of the box (i.e. does the BIOS not support it)? My A1 came in over the weekend but it had a stuck pixel so I had to ship it out before I could do a nuke and re-install.

How does that rebate thingy works? And how much can you save with it?
I am going to buy a g71g-A1 and want to know how much i can save. Does it also comes with the backpack and the mouse? -
Looks like it's down to an 8% rebate now - can't say if it will go back up but it was 30% after thanksgiving and then dropped to 20% (with a cap of $200).
- go to live.com (sorry, too new to post urls)
- search for "asus notebook"
- in the sponsored links at the top will be a link for ebay with a "cash back" sign and the rate (8% when I just tried)
- when you click-through to ebay it will enable the cash back for the first purchase in that session
- now search for what you really want "asus g71g"
- Pick the one you want (has to be a buy it now but they all are)
- Pay for the purchase through paypal (required for the rebate)
- You'll get a message from ebay to activate your cashback account along with the steps needed
- 60 days later the rebate from Microsoft will be paid out to your paypal account -
I wish I had the same result with your screen quality, but I'm very sure that I received a defective screen. From a left angle view, I am able to see a very large white cloud on the center left half of the screen and some cloud leakage from the right. I've got a couple of HDX's at work (HP HDX16 and HDX18), and their screen quality is superior to my G71G-A1. I chose Asus because I expected the build quality to be superior to that of HP. I'll post pics and videos soon as tomorrow I will be attempting to seek help from Asus Notebook Support to see if they can fix my screen. Is anyone else having this problem?

try using the pad to clean the screen, with a little bit of pressure it disappears, that worked for me
-
Yep, this fixes it. I found this out a few weeks back when I was showing the issue to some people at work. One mentioned it looked like a pressure discoloration and I was like "nah, couldn't be..." but then I wiped it and was pleasantly surprised.
If you apply pressure to the back of the lid when lifting the notebook as one usually does when pulling it out of a backpack, you'll find the cloud will be more noticable in that area. Wipe with slight pressure across the screen and it's like pushing a bubble out of tape

I'm very unsatisfied with having to gently wipe my notebook LCD's screen every single time I boot it up. I've sent it in for RMA for the LCD Screen clouding and loss of functionality on the touchpad. Too many hardware issues for such a short time of ownership for a highly expected brand of notebooks and craftsmanship. If I receive my notebook with the clouding issue on the LCD, I will be forced to move onto another notebook. I've got the latest and greatest HP notebooks and Mac notebooks at work (prototypes and public releases), and none of them have any LCD problems. Light leakage would be less of a problem, but the cloud issue (as well as clouding on the right edge) is very irritating and unprofessional when it comes to build quality from ASUS.
