Hi there..
I'm looking for a desktop replacement that I can use for some fairly intense gaming sessions and have stumbled apon a few likely candidates
But one that has definitly taken my eye is the Asus G71v
here in the UK, Asus computers are fairly hard to get hold off and they aren't as well retailed as from what i've seen from US sites.
So here is the spec:
2.53ghz Core 2 Extreme QX9300
4gb of DDR3 RAM
1 TB of Storage
Blue ray player
1920x1200 Screen
Nvidia Geforce 9700m GT
http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?prodID=B146857&viewSpec=y#productTop
£1700
So i'm wondering really whether you think that this computer is worth it and if anybody from the UK has, it how long did it take between ordering it and actually having it delivered as from all I have seen everywhere in the UK is out of stock
Post your thoughts
Thanks![]()

A word of warning re: UK, the ASUS support has a pretty dismal reputation there.
Have a look at the info booth, and from there my thread "A survey on the problems with ASUS notebooks and support." -
I have the earlier G71V with a Core2Duo not the quad (I would love to upgrade to the quad though if I can find the chip for sale).
Its a very good laptop, no problems as such but it only came with Vista Home pro 32bit which was a surprise.
If you want good gaming then it may be worth looking at the G71G with the better graphics card, looks like similar specs regards monitor etc but it does not support RAID (has 2 drives though) and I believe its DDR2 and not DDR3 ram but it makes very little difference overall.
