    Hi guys!

Been thinking on replacing my desktop with a lappy and I plan on using it mainly on gaming, audio/video editing, photoshop etc. How do you think G71V would handle this?

    The specs are:
    17" WUXGA (Full HD 1920x1200) Glare Type ColorShine High Brightness TFT-LCD - Intel Centrino Quad Core Extreme QX9300 2.53GHz - NVIDIA GeForce9700M GT 512MB DDR3 - 4096Mb DDRIII 1333MHz (2x 2048Mb)- 2x 500Gb 5400rpm SATA - Blu Ray Combo - Webcam - Bluetooth - Vista Ultimate - Asus Backbag, Gaming mouse, Remote control.

Is the graphics card going to be the bottleneck of this system? If so, is it easily replaceable?

My original thoughts were to buy the new Alienware M17 system with all the goodies, but they don't sell it with the monthly payment option outside US or UK and as a student and a part time worker that is a major bonus.

The G71V with this setup costs around 2900EUR and it's possible to pay in monthly payments. What do you guys think? Is it worth it or can you suggest something else for me?

    Thanks!

BIG bottleneck. I wouldn't recommend it. I've got the G50V with the 9700m GT and it struggles to play at the native res of 1680*1050.

Fill out the FAQ. I'd recommend just skipping Asus if you want really high end laptops. Check out the Sager forums on this site. There are some Sager retailers in the Uk and they're usually quite flexible about such stuff.

EDIT: The quad core will be brilliant for the photoshopping/video-editing. If your focus is more on that and some light gaming on the side then you might be on to something.

Thank you for your answer! I think I have to forget the G71v for now and see what kind of solutions Sager and Zepto offers.

Oh yea... Zepto. Their new 17" Hydra is about as good as you get if you can afford it (and it looks like you can). I'd recommend them.
