Can anyone confirm or deny whether or not this Asus model can take 8GB of RAM. I am looking to upgrade to 8GB using 2 x G.Skill 4GB DDR3-1333 (which is what my laptop came with).

I run 2 VMs and I am running into memory swapping issues. 8GB should rectify this issue. I am considering getting one initially and getting the second if necessary (try 6GB first and then go 8 if necessary).

I'm pretty sure it has 3 slots which means that 12 gbs is the limit.

    Edit: Nevermind.

    The G71V-Q1 has 2 slots. I've checked :(

    QX9300 (2.53)
    2 x 2GB DDR3-1333
    17" (19 x 12) LCD

I am unsure how similar (or not) it is to any of the G71's. Laptop was purchased in November of last year from XoticPC.com

edit: I do have an e-mail to Asus Tech Support, but haven't received a response as yet

Well my laptop has 3 slots. Its a P8700 with GTX 260. Got it today at BB for 1,150 but came out total as like 1,500ish somewhere like that with all the warranty (2 years) and tax.

The G71V-Q1 is different than the new G71s.

I am really hoping I can bump the memory. My other option (quite expensive option) is to get another laptop better able to handle the VM usage.
