I am not saying I am offering sales here for these =P I am just saying when they go out of stock again I will make a profit on E-bay. Its capitalism at its finest =)

Anyway just saying they were available. And yes I would not pay $42 for them, but if you did a search online at other retailers thats what they sell em for...... an obvious profit, its kinda moot now as they are not again out of stock...

I don't think it's a good idea to have 2 HDD's in a G71gx/G72gx if you are concerned about high temps. I didn't have a choice but get a new Hitachi 7200 RPM 500 GB, to replace my Seagate 5400 RPM 500 GB that gave me bad sectors from the very first day I got the G71gx. Put it in the slot next to the CPU without a caddy so I could clone the old Seagate to the new Hitachi. Having the HDD next to the CPU gave me about 10C increase in the CPU/GPU temperatures. So I was forced to keep only the Hitachi and move it to the other slot. Now the temperatures are back to normal.

wow really? I put a second HDD in my much smaller (and thus thermally tighter) G51 and experienced zero temp increase on the CPU.

Yeah, I put the 2nd hard drive in without the caddy and I haven't noticed any temperature problems. It does move around in there when i pick up my laptop and move it around though.

That's because you're freaking computer has been touched by Jesus, Buddha, and Muhammed and every other deity/prophet in existence.

Then again, before I drilled out the fake grill, I wasn't running hotter, either.

One thing to consider on the G72GX that the one of the previous poster failed to note is the second drive bay no only is not located next to the CPU, GPU, and Pri HDD its on the opposite side of the laptop in the back from the Hard drive, and all the way to the left of the CPU, GPU, there is also ventiing right there. I personally have owned many different laptops and know enough to know that there was some though regarding real estate and placement for these.

Neither drive is really too close to anything to warrant much problems. As well I have not noticed any heat related issues with this unit yet, and I have been using it as a primary machine for weeks now. The palm rest doesnt even appear to get warm at all which is amazing considering the pri drive is under there =o
