Hello! I'm new (first post) but, absolutely desperate at this point. As stated in the title, my laptop crashes at start-up (on any game), literally, 1 second in and *poof* completely off. I've recently got it back from Geeksquad (The part of the motherboard that accepts the power stopped working, wouldn't turn on/accept any charge with our without the battery and worked fine before the issue, they replaced the entire motherboard and put more ram in then there was originally) Well, I got it back and immediately tried hopping on some Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, but as soon as I got into a game, laptop crashed. I thought it was nothing so tried again, crashed, Again with another game (League of Legends) crash. I tried everything to fix it, my temps don't even get past 60c when it crashes, so I ruled out overheating (besides, I just got it back so I figured it was clean anywho) I brought it to the attention of the geeksquad people for them to tell me that my OS could be corrupt or a virus (>.>) and then they tried forcing me to buy a 200$ service thing, after I dropped 270$ to replace the motherboard! As a last resort, I reverted back to factory settings (just in case it was the OS) but, it didn't work. So, at the moment I have no idea what to do, I came across this site in my search for answers, seeing as how you guys seem very helpful and knowledgeable about this type of laptop, I figured i'd give it a shot in asking for help. Any advice is welcome!

Best if you can provide a little more details on the crash such as error code, etc. -
Nothing at all. In the even viewer the only thing it says is Event 41 Kernel power, which i'm presuming its because it crashed. Other than that, nothing it all. Sorry about the late reply, posted this thread really early in the morning (My time)

It's a hassle. I can do everything fine on it, watch videos, play flash games, etc. but, once I load up an installed game its over, turns off instantly.

Windows Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first" in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2
This possibly indicates that you have a faulty hardware in there, and it might be the GPU.
Can you run furmark to verify?

Alright, ran it. As soon I I hit okay to the warning message, laptop crashed like it does on the games.

Not sure if it's worthy to do an out of warranty repair or not.
Or just find a replacement VGA card elsewhere. -
Lovely. What would cause it? Also, if you know, how much do you think it'll be to repair?

As for the repair cost, it's best to call ASUS to find out.
They may or may not have the parts to fix it. -
Isn't the GPU part of the motherboard? So, when they put in a new motherboard that might have had something to do with it? I'm just trying to get my facts straight. I mean, as mentioned before they put more ram in, but, that's only because they left it out in the first place... I just wanna know if it was something on their part, or mine. It was fine before the repair if I may mention.

Alright, thanks for all the info, I called and talked to the supervisor of that local Geeksquad, he also believe it's the motherboard and will send it away to get it working for me,free of charge of course. I wanna thank you so much! You allowed me to relay info I didn't know, and for that, I owe you my gratitude. Thanks again!
