    Hi guys,
1.Anybody know if any retailers in US give global warranty for Asus g50vt series (Heard BB doesn't give such warranty, theirs is limited)?
    2. If my friend buys a notebook and sends it to me . Can I use such warranty? Or the warranty can be used by the person who is registered in warranty card?
If so, can my friend register me in warranty card while buying?

PS: sorry for my poor english

Yes, any Asus purchased in the US from a reseller will receive a 2 year global warranty + 1 year accidental protection and 30 day zero bright dot screen warranty.

It's best if your friend can help you register the notebook in the US first, before shipping it to you overseas. The warranty follows the notebook and not the original buyer.

The warranty coverage would be based off the serial number on the bottom of his notebook. Asus would be able to pull the information about his notebook when he provides his serial number.

So It does't matter who is the origin buyer, does it? Warranty service identifies just the notebook. Am I right?

As ramgen confirmed, you are correct. Asus doesn't receive any information from the resellers on who purchased the notebook. All Asus receives it that the notebook was purchased, which then prompts Asus to active the warranty on the notebook according to the customers purchase date.

AQsus can call to the vendor to confirm the purchase date when a customer claims the notebook is in warranty while the system shows the serial number predates the warranty. This happens when systems have a shelf life.

I'm in New Zealand, and being as interested as I am in the W90, I decided to ring the NZ Asus number to double check on how their servicing worked. The number goes through to Australia which doesn't surprise me.

He confirmed there was the 2 year global warranty but when I mentioned I would be purchasing from the US he said it was different. I would have to send the laptop back to the shop I purchased it from for servicing. I said I had seen and heard differently and asked him to double check... he came back and said if I bought from the US and had problems, I'd have to send back to the US.

Is this guy just plain wrong!?

Yes, he's WAY wrong. If you purchased an Asus notebook from the US, you are entitled to ANY of their service centers world wide. One of my Asus notebooks I purchased in the US broke down in Hong Kong and I took it to the local Asus service center there and it was repaired free of charge.

Thanks very much for that David. It really makes me nervous when the support guys don't even know what they're supposed to support. Not really a good start for Asus in NZ!
