I have a ASUS EEE PC 4G. I bought for my daughter. She wanted it so!!! Well to get to problem I was suppose to have Micro Soft windows suite on it. Guess what! No It Didn't... Well I've tried to install it and don't have enough memory now. I had it checked by two buddies who are comp. savvy. They say HD two small no room with all of the updates etc. It has 4G, would love to up grade to 16 or better. Help. I've been looking and find 8g. But not much bigger. Are there any drives out there that will fit this unit that are bigger? And not cost more than I paid for it? I saw this is it any good?
    SSD Adapter+ 8GB CF = Solid-State Drive Laptop 2.5" IDE
Are there any drives from other units that will work?
You All Have Helped in the Past. I need it again.

I believe you could always expand the memory through an SD card, you could get a 16GB one, not very expensive.

Also think about OpenOffice.Org 3.01 very good application, it now has Office 2007 file format support but not so good at this point. Its very good for 97-2003 files and can save as pdf without adobes printer plugin. I use it on windows in addition to linux.

Took me awhile but ive convinced family members to not pay for office 2007.

The Asus EEEPC 4G uses a soldered SSD so you won't be able to replace it. There is a free mini PCI-E slot where you can add a SSD PCI-E card which you can easily install and gives you up to 64GB of extra capacity. For a cheaper alternative, a SDHC card is also available.

Where do I find this card? What I look at for hard drives on ebay. It is the same as what you are saying. I would like to know where to put it and where to get it. I know about SDHC cards.
"I Would Appreciate Any Help on this". :notworthy: :confused2:

Ive seen Mini PCI-E SSD's on NewEgg.

But yeah seriously you could get an 8 GB SDHC card on sale for cheap and probably a 16 pretty soon, im not entirely familiar with the laptop but does it have an actual reader or is the sdhc an addon/hack?

Saw a name brand 16gb flash drive on sale for 40, disassemble and attach that to the internal usb, bit of a warranty voider tho.

Thanks All for the Info. I bought a 32 SDHC Card last night.
"David", I open bay and was looking at the board. I didn't see any place to plug one in. I see the ram, then above it the board but do not see a place to plug it in. Do you have to take it all apart?
I still will buy one of these David it has to help and I appericate the site. Also all the ones that work with it. :notworthy: :confused2:

Thanks Again All David Crockett Sr

What's the exact model of your EeePC?

If it's the 701 4G model, then it should look like this:
The top compartment is for a mini PCI-e card.

"David", here is what it says. ASUS Eee PC 4G 850AAQ391720. open it up it looks like yours but , on left is there is no place to plug it in Just board! I can see where yours plugs in. This doesn't have that !!! It does not even have the little post for screws. It has the holes.
The # above is all that it has written on it. I can hold it at a angle and I don't see any way to plug it in. ? Any Ideas????
Will the 32G card I bought do it for her? Looks like that is all I can Do :notworthy: :wideeyed:

I Appreciate Your Help Greatly !!!!

That's odd you don't have a mini PCI-e slot in the empty compartment. If that's the case, then your only option to expand your hard drive is via a SDHC card.
