I just bought one for my sis and now she's complaining about its slow performance. programs are not responsive even in desktop and office apps.

    here's the specs:

    AMD Athlon™ 64 x2 Dual-Core M300
    2.0GHz (1Mb Cache)
    ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD4570 512Mb
    2.0Gb DDR2-800MHz
    320Gb SATA HDD
    Intel® High Definition Audio
    14in. WXGA LED 1366x768
    1.3MP camera
    DVD-Super Multi Double Layer
    Li-Ion 6 cell
    Windows 7 basic 64bit

the OS is 64bit but the ram is only 2gb. is because of the ram?

Could be - I have K40in with 32 bit windows 7 and its performance and response time is very good - I have 4 gb of ram too though and the Nvidia G102 with 512mb.
If you check the Asus Forum (at Asus home page) you'll see some comments from people having trouble with 64bit windows 7 on the K40
