I have an Asus K50 notebook, with GL40 chipset, and I wanted to upgrade the T4400 CPU to a T9500. However, it didn't start at all with the latter (just the power LED lights for 1 sec and after it shuts down). Though, theoretically, the chipset should support this CPU. I even found comments on the net about it.

I checked the microcodes in the BIOS. The CPUID of T9500 is (1)0676h, and 0676h is in the list. Moreover, I checked the microcode list in all similar notebooks (K50IJ Bestbuy, K40 etc.), and I found the same CPUIDs there.

What could be wrong? Is there any possibility left to use the T9500?

It is supposed to be tested by the seller. I am unable to verify this though, no spare compatible computer...

I am faster to believe something is wrong with the t9500 than your laptop.

This thread is over a year old. If you're facing a similar or identical situation, you may have better luck in creating a new thread and asking.

Thanks for the replay, I am not in the same situation. I was just trying to get some info before my CPU upgrade.
