Asus K50IJ cpu upgrade

I have an Asus K50IJ and I wonder if it is possible to upgrade the processor. I've already seen a similar question in this thread.

My laptop has the same socket and chipset, so I ask you: is it possible to put an T9300 or T9500?

My laptop: ASUS - K50IJ
current cpu : ARK | Intel® Pentium® Processor T4300 (1M Cache, 2.10 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

T9300 specs : ARK | Intel® Core
T9500 specs : ARK | Intel® Core

I would like to know your opinion.

The upgrades you listed should work. They're nearly identical to the T6500, which is supported according to Asus' site:

Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 vs T9500 (Socket P)

As long as it's not a BGA socket and matches your current, it will fit. The problem - if any - could be with the BIOS; in that comparison I linked, for example, the T6500 does not support Virtualization and does not support Turbo Boost, whereas the T9500 does.

 

I just blindly did this upgrade tonight.. research shows that other users have had success with the T9500 cpu with the GL40 Chipset.. I just didn't know if Asus bios/ motherboard would support it.. $75 for a T9500 off ebay and one drunken cpu install after work and all is well... This was for my moms asus K50IJ which had a Pentium T4400 2.3ghz. Computer is way faster, and this is running a traditional mechanical hard drive as funds haven't allowed for an ssd yet.. WEI for cpu and memory went from 5.6 to 6.2... I used Cool Laboratory Ultra liquid as my replacement thermal paste...

 

Fantastic Juniorsti !! Great upgrade. Thanks for your answer. Interestingly, Asus site does not mention T4400 as an option for this laptop. Like mine, that uses a T4300. So, i'm now convinced that it's possible to use a T9300 or a T9500. But because I had some doubts, I contacted Asus support to know possible incompatibilities, and their response was that...they did not know, because they had never tested the T9300 or T9500 in this laptop, and I should contact other users to know your feedback !!! What a magnificent response from a company like Asus lol. If they did not know, who's going to know ?!! lol
Well, I'll follow your example and I'll also make this upgrade, but following Asus advice ( lol), I would like to ask you: did you note some increase in temperature ? Did you have to make any changes into the BIOS ? Did you kept the same cooler ? My CPUZ Core Speed varies between 1100 MHz and 2094 MHz and you have 2594 MHz. So I think this is due to SpeedStep technology . Did you deactivate it ? It would be better to invest in a T9300 or in a T9500, what's your opinion ? Because there is a big difference in price yet ...
By the way. My CPU and memory WEI : 5.4. I really have to upgrade.

I am wondering the same thing as well. But I do have an additional question before beginning. How can the socket for the CPU be determined? I have looked on Intel's website and they don't list the socket for my CPU. My Asus has Intel Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4500 @ 2.30GHz and a Asus K50IJ motherboard. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Finally,finally....
My son gave me the laptop, so finally I decided to upgrade to the T9300 and...works at a crazy speed. lol
I would strongly advise this upgrade. Windows index jumped from 5,5 to 6,1. Next step: SSD and possibly increasing RAM to 6GB, because I have read some information that says it is possible with Windows 7 x64.

 

The SSD would be a huge step, for general use a core 2 mobile (of the higher end) and SSD is not bad at all.

 

SSD is wise for a performance boost. When/if you upgrade the RAM, try to keep all the modules/sticks identical (matching specs and brand).

 

Hi all.

Just to let other people know:

Today I have upgraded my Asus K50IJ from C2D T5900 (2.2/2M/800) to C2D T9500 (2.6/6M/800) and it works properly.

Also, one year ago, I put out an optical drive and put there a second drive - SSD Kingston.

The laptop is much faster than before and also the temperature goes down (65nm vs 45nm + new thermal paste AC MX-2).

Hope it will works like that a next few years.

T9500 is a second-hand CPU and was bought for 45,- EUR
