    Hello guys,

This might not be the best place to ask this, but thought I'd try my luck. I had recently made up my mind on getting the Asus K52F, for that price and warranty that Asus provided, nothing could compare it.

But some of my friends told me to try Dell, say you could call and get the reps to get your some kind of discount.

Both the notebooks have exact same specs: i3 350, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 320gb HDD, Integrated graphics, DVD Drive, 6-cell battery. I believe the only two differences were, Studios come with a slot dvd drive, Asus is just a normal tray one, and the hdd Asus is 5400rpm, Dell gives 7200rpm.

But then Asus provided a 2yr with 1yr being accidental coverage warranty off the bat, Dell only has 1.

Laptop will be for school use, but need some horsepower, so out of those which one would you go for, oh and the Asus is $750, Dell was $799, but all the rep was able to get me was a $50 discount, equaling the price, which isn't much of a deal I thought.

    Any input is welcome.
    Thanks :)

Dell has one of the best tech supports around...u just can beat their after sales support and replacement services, while i have seen a few instances where ASUS had been very poor (or stingy) with their replacements and support. In a few cases, users having compatibility or hardware issues who RMA-ed their units, often got it back with only a reinstall of the OS, but no fixes to their initial issues. So while it mite be true that its givin u 2 yrs of warranty, I always believed in quality of over quantity on these things.

Also, if ur getting it for school, id suggest lookin around a bit more. There are definately better configs out there at that price range. U shud look for something with a Core 2 duo and a dedicated graphics.

If looks arent too important u cud check this one:

    Goodluck.

Thanks for the suggestions Hasib, the Acer I did look at, pretty nice laptop, although that current version is discontinued, and there's a new one 5741g, also it's getting out of stock in Canada very fast. One reason I avoided Gateway is there support, it really isn't any good.

Gonna wait for more users.. :)
