I'm having audio problems with my K52JR using Windows 7. I'm digitising vhs camera tapes via Tevion high speed dvd maker (usb device) and a software program which came with it. The setup still works on my PC and has worked for me before on this notebook, but lately I can only get video, no audio. I also get barely audible voice recordings on e.g.Windows sound recorder, and others, and poor quality/low volume music playback. I have spent a lot of time on audio settings in Volume Mixer and Control Panel; have also updated drivers in Device Manager and even deleted drivers then allowed Windows to reinstall. I still have the same problems.
I'm wondering about my sound card/chip. I don't know how to identify it; would anyone know what it is, and whether it's replaceable? I'm assuming it's part of the motherboard, which would be difficult. I have seen reference to usb sound cards. Would that be an answer?
