Just got this yesterday and immediately noticed these annoying little white line flashes intermittently on the right side of the screen. The flash one or twice every 2min or so.

I updated my video driver (I should note that I did not first delete the old driver. Not sure if that matters, but I just assumed that updating would copy over the old driver and that point would be mute) and restarted my computer.
after the restart, the problem wasnt there. No lines. I shut my computer screen without powering down and when I opened it up later, the glitch returned.

after experimenting, I have come to the conclusion that if I restart my computer via the START menu, I get no lines. If I close my computer lid then reopen it, or if I SHUT DOWN my computer via Start Menu then power back on, I get line glitches.

Any idea why this is? Any tips or suggestions? I really dont wanna go through the hassle of returning this to newegg. Do you think this problem will get worse and I dont mind doing this work around for the rest of the computer life, but I also dont want it to get worse when my warranty expires.

    EDIT:
When I put the computer in sleep via the start menu, but dont close the screen, I notice when I wake it back up that I dont get lines! PECULIAR!!! The process of closing the screen and opening it without powering down seems to trigger the glitches.

    EDIT 2:

Put the computer in HIBERNATE and didnt close the screen. Woke the computer up from hibernate and the glitches are there. If I determine that closing the lids puts the computer in hibernate, this would seem to suggest that hibernate is the problem

    EDIT 3:
Went to Control Panel>What Happens When Lid Closed> Changed from hibernate to sleep.

Closed lid, reopend = got the glitches.

Restarted computer from start button without closing lid = No glitch
Shut down the computer from start button, didnt close lid = glitch came back!!

It seems the only way I can get away from the glitch is to start up the computer then immediately go through start menu and then officially RESTART.

Once I have restarted , I get no glitching until I put the lid down or have to "start menu>shut down"
    WEIRD!!!!

honestly it sounds like a cable issue to me. Basically the only time i'm seeing the problem occuring is when you close the lid and reopen it. I dont think it has anything to do with the drivers but i could be wrong.

Try repeating all of your steps using an external monitor. If you still see the lines then its probably some sort of driver/hardware issue. If the lines are gone then its either the screen or the lcd cable

Sorry for the late reply (this thread is a half month old), but it is definitely sounding like an LVDS cable issue. I've seen this on K series in specific. Their display cables must be very finicky or be low quality in general. I haven't seen this on any other ASUS nearly as commonly as K series... K50/K51/K52 in particular.
