    Asus K53E

All of a sudden, and without warning my keyboard has stopped working. Not just a few keys but all of the keyboard. I have removed the keyboard and re-seated the ribbon cable in it's connector without success. No liquid as been spilt on the keyboard. In every other way the machine works fine and I am able to use a USB keyboard.

Is this likely to be a motherboard problem or does the keyboard itself contain components that can fail rendering all keys unusable?

Any help, information or solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

It could be either the motherboard or keyboard. Only way to really know is to get a replacement keyboard and see if that works. Should be covered under warranty if you're within the time frame.

It's very rare that the keyboard controller on the board or the connector goes out, but because it's possible, you'll only know by swapping the keyboard out for a working one.
