Laptop http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K53E/#specifications, i5 processor, purchased from Best Buy, came with 4GB DDR3 installed. Purchased this stick Amazon.com: Samsung MV-3T4G4 4GB DDR3 Laptop SDRAM (1333MHz PC3-10600): Electronics to upgrade to 8GB, laptop refuses to recognize additional 4GB of memory.

I took out the original factory installed memory and replaced with memory purchased separately and it works fine...when I install both modules I'm only getting 4 GB showing up in system. Users Guide says memory upgrades require no configuration, claims Bios will pick up new memory....but Bios is not.

Fooled around in Bios, restored to default...nothing changes.

Anyone know why additional memory will not show up under Control Panel/Systems/View amount of Ram? It's still showing 4GB
