Yes that is a recovery disk set that will get you back to the factory state from when you first got the computer. It is not the same as a windows 7 disc (for a clean install), you can get one of those from here and use the license code on the label on bottom of your computer: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html

If you do a clean install you will need to get all the drivers installed by hand, starting with atk and the platform drivers. You can find them here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download

Make sure to back up your personal files onto another drive or DVD or something, because you will lose all the data on the computer if you reformat or use the recovery discs.

    Hey again...
What is the difference about using the recovery disk and doing the "Clean install"?

All the stuff in the bloatware guide is essentially applications that can be considered annoying garbage that slows down your computer.

Using the recovery discs you get back to a factory state, which will be faster than it is now probably, but will still have stuff you have to remove to get it to an 'optimal' state.

On the other side of the coin there is installing windows itself and then adding all the drivers and any applications you want one at a time.

It's subtractive versus additive approach - and religious wars have been waged as to the best way to go about it. :p It's your choice. The recovery CDs are the least annoying and error-prone way for a new user. You can also press F9 at startup to get to the recovery utility directly from the hidden partition on the hard drive, instead of using DVDs (which will be slower).

When you turn the computer on press the ESC key and select your dvd drive. Then press any key when it tells you to.

Did you install your nvidia drivers? You can get them either from nvidia.com or asus support.

It looks like maybe you don't have aero on or something.

This happened to me once when i reformatted my N50 with vista that came with it, didn't encounter the problem with any other reformats though. turning aero on fixed it, WEI gave me a poor score too like it didn't detect my GPU until i did a score refresh.

We're not really in the habit of closing threads here, they close automatically after no posts have been made for a year. ;)
