    Hello,

I have just bought new Asus K75V - i5, 500 GB Hitachi HDD, Geforce GT630M, 8 gb RAM.

    Installed Win 7.

The notebook by itself is quiet, but there are 2 ussues I am nervous about:

    1) Every 2-3 minutes fan starts to noise quite loudly
    2) I hear the HDD work - cracklings

Can You please suggest how to fix?

    Thanks in advance.

Does the fan rev and then quiet down after a minute or so? That's normal - especially under heavy load. You can us HWINFO to check your system temps.

As for the HDD "cracklings", are you sure it's the hard drive? Platter drives these days are very quiet, although I'm not sure how the Hitachi drive you have compares. If the sound is almost inaudible, then it's probably normal; just the actuator arms moving about or the motor sound during read/write. But if it's intermittent and loud, then you may be looking at something really problematic.

Well, there is NO heavy load - just browsing in the internet. The heaviest load is Photoshop CS2 - but for the note with such parameteres I think its not a problem at all.

Downloaded the HWINFO, here is what it shows:

Hmm, everything from your screenshot looks fine...

If you would like, try using thermal monitoring programs like CPU-Z/GPU-Z, or SpeedFan - which allows for some fan control. For the hard drive, you can check the health of it to make sure it's not physically damaged, or to make sure there are no bad sectors.

It's hard to judge off a description; I would need to hear the crackling sound you described in order to determine if it's normal or abnormal. The fans revving doesn't sound very serious though; but feel free to try one of those programs to take a look at the RPMs and more in-depth thermal information. That will give you a better idea.

You can also clean the fans by blowing out the vents with compressed air. You can clean them more thoroughly than that, but it involves opening the laptop, which voids the warranty.
