HI all can anyone suggest anything,
I bought asus kv55 a couple of weeks ago the laptop is great however I am experiencing unresolved wireless problems, there is an asus update manager running and upon first boot it had completed several updates,
For the wireless device its using Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter with the most recent update running unfortunately on windows 8 64 bit , I am not sure what is up with the wireless device but its dropping connection all the time... I unchecked option to turn off wireless adapter to save power in the adapter manager, I checked in the power management and made sure nothing is interfering with the performance setting
due to power setting etc..., I uninstalled the driver and installed the default first revision driver for the wireless device....
Also wanted to mention that I just bought a new NETgear router and right next to my Asus I got a 6 year old Toshiba laptop and the wireless on Toshiba kicks butt uninterrupted lol and outperforms the new Asus laptop lol,

Can anyone help ?? I am running out of options that I am aware of...

    any help would be appreciated.

    thanks,

    Drew

So both the default Windows driver, as well as the most up to date driver from Asus (or from Atheros site) isn't working? Just want to be clear before we go about troubleshooting.

In the meantime, try giving Complete Internet Repair a shot.

all the driver versions I tried work however they drop connection, I get the yellow triangle showing and it says there is no connectivity then I click on my wireless and disconnect and reconnect and it works again for a bit and then drops again , this happens with laptop powered of of battery and power wall outlet. Last night I was browsing a bit and connection dropped I went to the win 8 side bar and usually I see 20 and up wireless connection around me and I only seen 4 and my connection did not even show up in the list lol , then after 5 minutes all connections showed up and I seen my wireless and was able to connect over again....

this is just strange... the toshiba laptop works like a charm lol

Hey again, Drew! I see the laptop - by default - comes with Windows 7. You might want to install the driver under compatibility mode for Windows 7 if you're using Windows 8. Since you've tried multiple drivers with the same results, I'm guessing they're not compatible under Windows 8; that or there's a conflict or bug with the current drivers you're using, even if they're listed as compatible with Win 8.
