firingsquad.com has an exellent review of the Asus L5000GA desktop replacement. Of particular interest is the stunning 15inch SXGA screen using ACE View technology which compares favourably to the top of the line Dell inspiron.

    Full review here: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/asus_l5000ga/

    Quote from website:

"Looking for a high-end desktop replacement notebook that won't drain all the funds out of your bank account? ASUS' L5000GA may be just the system for you! Our review system sported a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 processor with 1GB of DDR400 SDRAM, ATI's MOBILITY 9600 PRO graphics, 802.11g Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet, and an 80GB hard drive with an 8MB cache. This system sells for just under $2,500 and is capable of keeping up with a tuned P4P800 Deluxe system we setup with performance-enhancing features such as MAM and Turbo Mode enabled. But we haven't even mentioned the notebook's best feature, its jaw-dropping 15" ACE View display. See how this system stacks up to the Alienware's and Dell Inspiron XPS's of the notebook world in this review!"

Yeah it's a very thorough review, took me about 30 minutes to read it! lol

I just wish they did more reviews on laptops, because it gives you a really good insight into making a purchase. That screen looks damn impressive too! it would be nice in the future if it becomes the standard as well asreducng the screen response times for more hardcore gaming, we will see.

Unfortunately no. So far its only on the L5 series, its a real same as it would be great to see it turn up on a few more models. I was hoping that the W1N or M6N were going to get it but alas that hasn't happend.
Great review though, but would have liked to see some battery tests, and maybe a few application benchmarks, although god knows how long the review would have been then!!
    lol

I own one of these units and I can attest that review is bang on.. I own a computer shop, and the mmost impressive feature of the L5GA is the screen, and the performance. Best Bang for the dollar vs. Performance period. The screen makes people stare... no doubt. Surfing the net is an absolute dream! If your going to build a laptop for gaming... heat and crappy battery life shud be a mon issue. Laying the smackdown in Far Cry is a treat only a small % of people who own a laptop can do. Without hesitation I recommend this unit wholeheartedly!

    "Good luck with that!"
