So i'm trying to convince my buddy to get an asus laptop as well ( i have the w3v). :asus: Even though he's quite impressed with mine, he just can't get over the Brand Name ordeal. So i was thinking if you guys could come up with a few mainstream laptops that are actually asus laptops, i think it would convince him enough to get one. I know the powerbooks are by Asus but what else?

I've heard in this forum that ASUS also makes Sony laptops. Also if your friend is having trouble with ASUS "not" being a name brand remind him that it is actually a name brand when it comes to components. Quality components make a quality computer.

Tell you buddy it's his lose and don't waste your time. Asus' notebooks are not sold under any "brand name" here in north america............ however they are an ODM for many companies that sell in the US.... however those models are not the same as Asus models and honestly I think that Asus' models are higher quality than most of the other stuff they make. The best examples that you can give him is that they make the powerbook's for apple (not the ibooks, but a new widescreen ibook is one new product they are doing for them)...... they also do most of the vaio's for sony. In my experience, Asus' own models are a level or more above those... or at least a generation above... as they learn from their mistakes or at least learn how to do things better when it comes to their own stuff. If your buddy's seen your W3 and that's not enough for him to give up the "brand name" thing........ you're never going to shake him. I mean if you can put your W3 up to anything he has or has seen and he can't just tell from the specs, configuration and things like the build quality and details that you just won't find on anything else........ it's just a waste of your time.

I hope that makes sense. Asus is a name brand and just about the biggest if you ask anyone in the IT field...... If he would feel better having a Sony logo on it and it costing about a grand more.... tell him you know exactly where he can get one :)

Asus laptops are sold my Voodoo (the company that buys computer, paints them, and adds $1000 to the bill).
Like the V6 is the Voodoo envy a:512 (or 522, not totally sure)
    Also, Chembook uses Asus.
Apple laptops are made by Asus.
And of course, Asus is one of the best motherboard makers.
