What GPU it has? Does this notebook have integrated GPU or discret? What about the perfomance in 3D?
Thanks.

It's been two years since we sold an M2, first here is a little history of the M2.... The M2 came into the US at the begining of 2002.....
The M2A was a P3 system with intel graphics (shared up to 64mb)based on sd100
The M2E was a P4-m system with intel graphics (shared up to 64mb)based on sd133
The M2N was a banias based centrino system with intel extreme graphics (shared up to 64mb) -- based on ddr266
The M2Ne is a dothan based centrino system with intel extreme graphics 2 (shared up to 64mb) -- based on ddr333
The M2C is a dothan based centrino system with dedicated ati 9000 graphics (not sure if its' 32mb or 64mb) -- based on ddr333
The M2C isn't and will not come to the US, nor did the M3Ne. The US office has been trying to get rid of the M2 for over the last year just because it's an aging system, no matter if they update the chipset. I would say that the M2Ne would have similiar performance graphic wise if you filled the system up with ram.
Hope you enjoyed the history lesson.

Great thanks for this historical notes.
So video memory in M2C is shared with system memory or Radeon 9000 has its own 32 (64) mb ? -

I don't know how many MB it is... like I said, the last M2 we sold was atleast 2 years ago and never focused on the centrino model because it was already the 3 incarnation of it...
I guess you're not in the states, because I know this certainly isn't avaialble here....... but I'm not sure of the video memory.

I think the M2Ne looks better than the M3Np... although I haven't seen the M2Ne in real life.
It sure looks like a nice system for a college student

The M2 is classy.... it will always be... the M3 is a nice machine, but has a different level of design..
You have to keep in mind, the M3 was THE prototype centrino system developed by Asus and Intel.... it was the "reference system"... The M2 pre-dates that... techically it's about the same weight and everything..... but it wasn't designed with the benifits of centrino in mind. Asus was just ahead of their time.
Anyone ever see an Asus S8? I have one around here someplace.. It makes an S5 look heavy..... It was silver on the outside and yellow on the inside.. it still looks like a space aged computer... It weighted like under 2 pounds and was a single spindle like the S5... When it came out in 2001, there wasn't anything like it. It was just TOO SMALL for the US market at that time. Below is a link to a picture I bet most of you have never seen......

check out asus' site....
Yeah, the M2 is a classy machine...... the m3 is too... but from a businessman's perspective, aside from the V6 and the new W3.... the last truly classy notebook from Asus was the M2... I'm not saying it's the best system or the most feature packed, etc..... but the lines were just beautiful. Plus the M2 was slightly lighter and thinner than the M3.

Justin

I think the M6 was quite classy too [

but from what I've seen... yeah, the M2Ne is quite sweet.

part of the class of the m2 is the size and material makeup.... the lid is a magnesium ... so it was cool to the touch and very thin (thinner than an M6 carbon fiber lid). The palmrests were covered in a rubber feel black paint (sort of like a lot of ford car stereos and center consoles...... The don't make it that way anymore, because as a lot of people who have those fords and other cars that use that on their interiors..... it doesn't hold up to long term use. But it looks and feels silky smooth.... There's just something about it.

Justin

Yeah, you hit that on the nose.... I recently painted up an M5 in a similiar color to the S8... That was way ahead of it's time...... I think that by today's standards, the unit would probably be a widescreen (more like the W5).... but without an internal drive like the S5... that would slim it right up.... but yeah.. it was a tiny system but did just fine for what it was made for.
Thanks,
Justin
