    Hi,

My M5 fan is making more and more noise as it gets older. I remember that a while back you could buy from PROPORTABLE a Asus S5 fan that was quiter.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy a fan thats fits and that makes less noise? (perhaps the fan from a W5 fits to).

    Thanks

thanks for asking this again. I'd also like to know, as mine is getting worse by the day. Mine's still under warranty, but even when they replaced it with a new M5 fan it was still bad, and now it's getting unbearable. So I was thinking of trying to buy an S5 fan separately and seeing if the warranty people would put that in instead. But they have been so utterly incompetent and unhelpful with everything so far (this is Asus UK) that I'm not holding my breath! Is it the sort of thing you could replace easily yourself? I would be very leery about doing it myself but don't know where else to take it.

It will be easy to replace as long as it is a separated parts between the heat sink and cooling fan. They are similar to a desktop machine's cpu fan. It is better way to bring it to service center if your laptop is still under warranty.

My laptop isn't in warranty any more. I've removed the fan and cleaned it, but it only help a bit.

The only solution I can think of is puting in a different fan.

new z33 fans do the trick. You can request the fan from your vendor or contact asus directly

The problem is that Asus support where in Europe (Portugal) isn't like Asus there in the States.

I have contacted them and they told me that they don't sell spare parts do the public. It would have to be done by them, and since the laptop is out of warranty they would charge me:

    - Fan 10 Usd
    - Instalation 80 Usd

    A very expensive Fan :)

Does any one know of another place I could buy a fan.

    Thanks
