I personally did a search and found that the opinions on the screen was mixed. As far as I know, the problem is with the AUO screen (or something along those lines) and I'm not familiar with screens so I wanted to take opinions from the experts. Also, I created this new thread just to clarify how the screen is because I'm currently confused about the mixed statements.

So I ask you Asus experts, how is the screen on M50 in terms of grainy-ness and backlight bleeding?

    Thanks!

What sources of information have you used for your personal research?
    And why?

I just used the handy search function on the forum here! :)

I also looked at customer reviews on Newegg, and there are claims that the screens are grainy looking and have backlight bleeding. I just wanted to hear from the people who own the computer, similar models, or same screen even.

My M50 has the AUO screen, and I have had no issues with it. It is not the best screen I ahve ever seen, but definetly not the worst.

So, after having searched this forum why you want all it to be repeated again?

I believe the mixed reviews are due to the variations in the screens. I have noticed that the complaints are mainly about the lower resolution screens on the less expensive versions

i have the AUO one and it's rather solid.
    Really bright.
No graininess that i can see.
You can see backlight bleeding only when it's a dark black screen really.

I have the M50Sa-AK023C with the CMO 1680x1050 screen and it performs really well with no graning or bleeding.

On another note, some people say its too high a res, but in my opinion its about bang on. I did a lot of personnel thinking (probably a little too much) and reading/testing, before buying. I ended up taking the plunge and was really happy...text isn't too small and good desktop space. However I haven't personally seen the screen of the 1280x800 or the 1440x900.
