Are you talking about at the headphone jack, the speakers, or both?

Go into the BIOS and you'll find a sound setting that can be adjusted. I forgot the name of it.

The volume settings in the BIOS only affects the startup "chime".

    NO, that is definitely wrong!!!

I had a similar issue in my F8Va-C1. It turned out that the sound card's output was 4 out of 8 and this limitation was in BIOS. I set that back to 8 and now the speakers are much better...

This is not something related to the POST beep... It is the actual output of the speakers...

NO, that is definitely right!!! I've done several adjustments on my M50VM and know for a fact that the BIOS setting is for the POST beep. There is a bug, however, that may disable sound output altogether if you set the POST beep to "disabled". This has been discussed several times in Ken's M50VM review thread.

I also am disappointed with the low volume on this laptop, both for playback and the microphone. I boosted microphone to 100 and boost at 30+ and now I have AWFUL feedback (screaming/screeching/high pitched noise) upon starting the laptop if I have volume settings anywhere . I had to disable the microphone to make it stop. So I need two fixes... did anyone end up resolving their sound issues?
