    Hey Everyone,

I love the spec description of the Asus M50VM but I am unable to actually get my hands on one to see if I like the look and feel of it--Internet photos are lacking on the case design/finish.

Toshiba on the other hand has their laptops on display just down the road from me and I love the look and feel of their new Satellite line with the "fusion" finish.

The Toshiba A305-S6864 seems pretty much the same as the Asus M50VM but with a different Video Card and lower-resolution screen.

From a performance standpoint is the Toshiba going to be noticeably different from the Asus?

From a case/screen finish product has anyone used both production lines and can compare the look and feel of the two?

    Thanks!

what kind of recommendation do you expect in Asus forum? :)

    but lets compare the two...

Toshiba at first glance on the specs has ...
lower resolution screen, not to mention brightness/contrast is worse on the display models I've seen
    not so great graphics card
    no HDMI, eSata
    802.11 b/g only

There are probably other things, but what do you expect from a budget laptop

If you're undecided about the brand and wish unbiased options, you're better off filling in the FAQ and posting it in What Should I Buy :)

    lol

The fact that I posted the question in the Asus forum tells you which side I'm leaning too!

I'm just mad that I won't have a chance to get my hands on the M50VM until later in the month to see if I really like the feel of it--I just can't buy something without actually touching it first!

Who knows, maybe in the next few weeks there will be some new laptop releases that trump even this lineup. Thanks for your thoughts guys.

Exactly, what kind of recommendation would you get in here and all you list is the down side of Toshiba. I dont know much about this model but I had a toshiba in the past and I like the screen better even the rez is lower. You see true black color on Toshiba screen, my Asus U6S, even with led backlit, I still dont see true black. Only Grayish color as black. I still like my Tecra M9 from Toshiba

If you live in US, you can find both NBs in BEST BUY (in NYC for sure) and compare them side by side.
I've done this while shopping for my NB few months ago

I do not understand it. You can buy one on the internet and have 15-day money back guarantee.

    Good Luck on your research!

you cannot see the asus m50vm at best buy, only the G series, their website even says online only.
i had been hoping jandr would have it since they seem to have almost every other asus on disply but they had only gotten 1 or 2 in stock and said it wouldn't go on displaly :-(
